The starting pistol was today fired for nominations for the 2017 Law Society Excellence Awards which celebrate the best and brightest solicitors working in England and Wales.
The Excellence Awards, the landmark event in the year for recognising achievement in the profession, are now in their 11th year and nominations are sought in a range of categories that span the legal sector.
"Every day solicitors across this country demonstrate their commitment to their clients, their community, and the common values that bind our proud profession together," said Law Society president Robert Bourns.
"The Excellence Awards recognise and commend the very best - those solicitors whose dedication, skill and passion for the law have set them above the already high standard of their peers.
"The winners embody not just the values of the solicitor profession, but the vital role they play in the administration of justice every day."
This year sees two new categories introduced to recognise specific fields of work: Excellence in Conveyancing Practice and Excellence in Law Management.
"These two categories provide new recognition for ways that solicitors can demonstrate excellence in how they work and the service they give their clients, and I'm excited to see the outstanding work from nominees in these new categories," said Robert Bourns.
Nominations are sought across 12 categories for firms and seven categories for individual solicitors, and are open until Friday 26 May. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London on the evening of Thursday 19 October.
"Competition for the 2016 Excellence Awards was intense, demonstrating the superb calibre of solicitors across England and Wales," said Robert Bourns.
"If you know a solicitor who routinely works above and beyond the call, nominate them to join the exclusive alumni that are the Excellence Awards winners."
