Agreeing to act as a professional attorney – a good practice guide

3 March 2017

The Office of the Public Guardian has published new guidance for professionals, such as solicitors, who are appointed to act as an individual's attorney under a lasting power of attorney (LPA). It sets out recommended best practice for taking instructions, record keeping and preparing to act as an attorney under a LPA.

The Law Society has contributed to this guidance and recommends it as a useful resource for solicitors who undertake LPA work.

Read the guidance on the Office of the Public Guardian website.
