Practising certificate fee: have your say
The Law Society Group is consulting with members on the proposed budget for the financial year from 1 November 2014 to 31 October 2015.
In particular, we seek views on the net funding requirement, which determines the size of the practising certificate (PC) fee.
The draft budget proposes overall group expenditure of £146.13m, to be funded from a range of sources including commercial income and reserves.
A total of £104.92m is to be funded from the PC fee, a reduction of 10 per cent on 2013-14.
At present, it is expected that this could result in a PC fee of £320, which is £64 (17 per cent) lower than in 2013-14.
The consultation document below provides a concise summary of the group's budget proposals both as a whole and broken down into each of its component parts (the Law Society professional body, the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Corporate Solutions, our shared services function).

Responses will be collated and considered by the Law Society Council when they discuss the final budget submission on Wednesday 9 July. Your comments will help us to determine our final budget submission.
The budget will then be submitted to the Legal Services Board for approval of the net funding requirement and the PC fee.
