Balance of competences review: Law Society responses
As part of the coalition agreement's clause to assess the UK's relationship with the European Union the government is undertaking a cross-departmental review of the EU's competences.
The balance of competences review includes four tranches of consultations, with 32 specific consultation papers. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is responsible for co-ordination, but each consultation is the responsibility of the relevant government department.
The Law Society, through its expert practitioner-led committees, is responding to all of the consultations of relevance to the legal profession.
