SRA consultation on 'a question of trust' - Law Society response
The Law Society has responded to the Solicitors Regulation Authority's (SRA) consultation entitled 'A Question of Trust - Professional standards and values: what should happen when things go wrong'.
The Law Society agrees on the importance of a regulatory framework which enables the profession to be clear about the consequences of misconduct and the public to understand what will happen should they complain about it.
However, our response expresses concern about several aspects of the consultation and in particular cautions against the SRA attempting to categorise all misconduct at the expense of consideration of individual circumstances.
