Akber Datoo is founder and CEO of D2LT, co-chair of the Law Society’s Technology and Law Committee and a professor at the University of Surrey. He advises on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation and was named by the Financial Times in 2019 as a "top 10 market shaper" in the Intelligent Business Awards.

Akber Datoo is founder and CEO of D2 Legal Technology (D2LT), a global consultancy that helps law firms, legal service providers, financial institutions, regulators and FinTechs unlock business value through legal data and technology.

He advises on AI transformation, digital assets, payments innovation and electronic trade documentation, and also advises regulators on digital asset and AI regulation.

Akber is a leading voice on the intersection of law, technology and financial services.

He is co-chair of the Law Society's Technology and Law Committee and professor of law and technology at the University of Surrey, where he teaches financial services regulation and FinTech policy, AI, and cyberlaw.

Akber is the author of Legal Data – Banking & Finance (Wiley), with a second edition forthcoming, and co-editor of The LegalTech Book.

Akber's career spans both technology and law, beginning as a technologist at UBS before requalifying and practising as a financial services lawyer at Allen & Overy.

He brings together deep technical understanding and legal expertise, underpinned by a first class degree in computer science from the University of Cambridge.
