Getting to the Law Society

Nearest tube stations:

The nearest tube station with step-free access from train to street level is Blackfriars. Then take buses: 11, 15, 26 or 76.

Parking

There is no parking outside the Law Society from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.

Visitors can be dropped off or picked up from outside the main entrance.

Public car parking is available nearby in Saffron Hill.

Badge-holder parking

There are two badge-holder parking spaces at the junction of Chancery Lane and Southampton Buildings.

The national Blue Badge scheme does not apply in Westminster due to traffic congestion and the high demand for parking in central London.

Getting around the Law Society

We’re committed to being an open and accessible venue for everyone.

We have a range of facilities to help you access our member services.

Our front of house staff are on hand to assist, and can provide help with directions and accessibility.

Doors

The majority of doors used by visitors will be open or power assisted.

There will also be staff on hand to assist with access through doors.

Stairs

The main entrance stairs have colour contrasting anti-slip tread. All other stairs do not have colour contrasting anti-slip tread.

Most of the stairs around the Law Society have a handrail or banister.

Lifts

All lifts at the Law Society are wheelchair accessible, have audio announcements and Braille labelling on the buttons.

Room access

113 Chancery Lane

There is a lift next to the front entrance on 113 Chancery Lane to take visitors with mobility access requirements from street level to the reception area. Press the button to call the lift.

The Common Room

The Common Room is on the first floor. It can be accessed via the lift from the entrance hall.

Turn sharp right when you exit the lift and go through the door to the main staircase. The Common Room is straight ahead.

Access may not be suitable for some power-operated wheelchairs, dependent on the wheelchair’s dimensions.

The library

Our library is on the first floor. It can be accessed by the lift from the entrance hall.

Access may not be suitable for some power-operated wheelchairs, dependent on the wheelchair’s dimensions.

Bar and restaurant

Six Clerks restaurant and bar is on the ground floor and has level access.

The bar is raised up three steps from the restaurant area.

Our porters and restaurant staff are on hand to help if needed.

Contemplation and Prayer Room

Visitors can use the Contemplation and Prayer room.

This room may be suitable for those wanting to pray, who require a quiet room with less stimulation and/or would like to breastfeed a child in a private space.

Toilets and baby changing

Accessible toilets are available on all levels of the Law Society.

We offer gender specific toilets at the bottom of the president’s stairs in the basement level.

We offer all-gender toilets, available in the following areas:

• ground floor level, in the Front Entrance Hall
• second floor level, opposite Front Hall lift

Accessible baby changing facilities are available in the following areas:

• ground floor: Front Entrance Hall
• second floor: opposite Front Hall lift

Hearing loops

Hearing loops are fitted in all function rooms for people with hearing requirements.

Switch your hearing aid to the ‘T’ frequency.

Borrow a wheelchair

We have two wheelchairs which can use for guests to use while in the Law Society.

These can be borrowed from reception, or from the security office at the Bell Yard entrance.

Guide and assistant animals

Working guide and assistance animals are welcome at the Law Society.

They should be appropriately trained, always supervised, and kept with you, ideally on a leash.
