We responded to the Department for Business and Trade consultation on fire and rehire – changes to expenses, benefits, and shift patterns.
We support a proportionate approach that prevents harmful fire and rehire practices while still allowing employers to make reasonable, minor changes.
We favour targeted protections focused on genuinely detrimental changes, avoiding rigid rules that could reduce flexibility or remove beneficial terms.
