Christoph Sicking is Deputy General Counsel at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), an international development bank with headquarters in London.

Before joining EBRD he worked at the New York office of Hunton Andrews Kurth (formerly Hunton & Williams), specialising in cross-border leveraged leasing and asset finance.

Christoph’s current role is to manage the lawyers at EBRD dedicated to investment projects, including work-outs and special assets.

EBRD is an international financial institution, established by treaty and not subject to domestic law, a significant portion of his work is focused on public international law and issues specific to international organisations.

In 2017 he founded the Association of Lawyers in Intergovernmental Finance and Development Organisations (ALIFDO), an organisation of lawyers working at twenty different international financial institutions around the globe.

He is also the editor-in-chief of the Intergovernmental Organisations In-house Counsel Journal (IOICJ), ALIFDO’s law journal.

In 2016 he joined the Law Society’s International Committee, and was chair until 2022.

Outside of work, Christoph enjoys playing with his rock band, the Hackney Roads, and writing and performing his own music under the name Christoph Oliver (Oliver being his middle name).
