Duncan McGregor qualified in 2009 after training with Hill Dickinson in London and Athens. He is now the head of legal for UrbanChain, a peer-to-peer energy business licensed by Ofgem.

Over the last 16 years, Duncan worked within UK Top 100 law firms and FTSE 250/Fortune 500 companies in the UK and overseas, before moving to a start up energy and tech company in 2024.

He was legal counsel with Drax Power Ltd in Ipswich and senior legal council with SmartestEnergy.

Prior to that, he was an associate within the maritime law department of Birketts LLP in their Ipswich office.

Duncan has acted as performance line manager, mental health first-aider, and academic and career mentor, in which rapport and trust building are all essential.

He is passionate about enabling a just transition to a low cost low/net zero carbon energy system, both in the UK and globally.

Outside of work, Duncan is the trustee of the Hoxne Recreation Ground Charitable Trust and has served as chair of Denham Parish Council.

He ensured compliance with charity and local government governance, and raised funds for installing defibrillators, EV charge points, the refurbishment of Denham Village Hall and the management of Hoxne playing field.
