Paul Cummins qualified in 1999 and worked for a number of high street firms specialising in litigation. From 2001, he moved to work in local government, where he developed a passion for legal management.

From 2009, he held head of legal and director of legal and democratic services roles within local government.

He also held the statutory role of monitoring officer in his last three local government roles at Tunbridge Wells Council, Horsham Council and Milton Keynes Council.

In 2019, Paul moved into the regulatory sector to work for the General Pharmaceutical Council where he heads up the adjudications function.

He and his teams have regularly been finalists and winners of national legal awards.

The highlight was when, with Milton Keynes Council in 2018, he and his team were finalists in seven categories including Legal Team of the Year.

Paul has spoken at many conferences and events, particularly those held by the Law Society, for whom he has also written a number of articles.

He joined the In-house committee in 2017 and was chair until 2019.

Paul has also served on the Conduct committee and is currently the Law Society representative on the QC Complaints Panel.

Outside of work, Paul coaches youth football and cricket.
