Richard Atkinson is the vice president of the Law Society of England and Wales. He will become the 180th president in October 2024.

Richard qualified in 1990 and specialises in criminal law. He is a senior partner at Tuckers Solicitors LLP.

He was chair of the Law Society's Criminal Law Committee from 2011 to 2014 and co-chair from 2017 to 2020. Richard is also past president of Kent Law Society (2018/19).

Richard speaks at criminal law events both in the UK and abroad, as well as writing and speaking on criminal law matters in the legal press and the wider media.
