CON29 forms
Use these CON29 conveyancing forms to request information from the local authority.
The forms are only available through third-party suppliers.

CON29 Enquiries of local authorities (2016)
You can use the CON29 form to request information held by a local authority about a property.
The local authority may provide information that could affect future use or development of the property, or impose financial burdens. This could include:
- decisions
- anything waiting for approval
- proposed road building
- transport systems
- rights of way

CON29O Optional enquiries of local authorities (2016)
You can use the CON29O form for optional questions for local authorities, for example:
- completion notices
- noise abatement
- land maintenance notices

CON29 guidance notes
These guidance notes are intended to provide guidance to:
- solicitors and conveyancers when interpreting replies
- local authorities when replying to CON29 and CON29O enquiries of local authorities
We updated the CON29 guidance notes in September 2019.
We issue the notes in consultation with Land Data/National Land Information Service and the Local Land Charges Institute.
The notes have been updated to take account of the changes to the legislation on compulsory purchase orders in 3.12 and in relation to sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) in 3.3 in:
- England – discussions around compulsory SuDS coming into force are ongoing
- Wales – the SuDS regime is mandatory in Wales for new developments built under planning permissions granted following applications made after 7 January 2019
CON29DW Residential drainage and water enquiries (2016)
You can use the CON29DW residential form to provide key information for prospective buyers about water and sewage services.

CON29DW Commercial drainage and water enquiries (2021)
You can use the CON29DW commercial form to provide key information for prospective buyers of commercial property, making provision for questions regarding, inter alia, wayleaves and easements.

CON29M Coal mining search (2018)
You can use the CON29M form to provide information on past, present or future underground and surface coal mining activity for any property or site in a coal mining or past coal mining area.
