Disabled access

We are committed to making your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible and we have made many changes and improvements in order to make our premises accessible to all.

Once in the building, if your needs cannot be met by the facilities provided, please ask the Front Desk staff for assistance as they will be happy to advise you.


Parking outside the Law Society is not allowed during the normal working day. Visitors can be dropped off or picked up from outside the main entrance and there is some metered parking nearby.

Parking is free after 6.30pm. The nearest two public disabled parking spaces are located at the junction of Chancery Lane and Southampton Buildings.

Entering the main building

There is a lift next to the front entrance to take disabled visitors from Chancery Lane to the reception area. Please press the button to call the lift.

Visiting the Common Room

Wheelchair access is available to the Common Room via the front hall lift to the first floor. Turn sharp right on exiting the lift and through the door to the main staircase. The Common Room is straight ahead. (Not suitable for power-operated wheelchairs).

Visiting the Library

Please let reception know if you need wheelchair access to the library. There is a lift from the front to the first floor but access is not suitable for power-operated wheelchairs.

Bar & Restaurant

The Vulliamy Lounge is situated on the ground floor and has clear and level access. The bar is raised up three steps from the restaurant area but Law Society porters and restaurant staff are on hand to help if needed.


There is a disabled access toilet next to the cloakroom in the reception area on the ground floor. Additional facilities for disabled visitors are situated throughout the building, so please just ask for directions.

Assisted hearing facility

Induction loops are available in Reception and all main function rooms for people with impaired hearing. Please switch your hearing aid to ‘T’ frequency.

Guide dogs

Guide dogs are welcome in all rooms.
