HOPE. SUPPORT. FAMILY.
Legal aid means someone by your side. Join us to defend it

LEGAL AID IS A PUBLIC SERVICE
It's as vital to our communities as education and healthcare.
It should be there for everyone who needs it.
But years of underinvestment by the government has made it too difficult to access.

WHEN LEGAL AID FOR FAMILIES WORKS:
- Domestic abuse survivors can get the legal advice they need to protect themselves and their children
- Fewer people are forced to represent themselves in family courts
- Divorcing couples could get early legal advice and avoid costly court proceedings

WHAT WE'RE ASKING FOR
We are stepping up efforts to save legal aid for families. Despite some new investment in some areas of civil legal aid, funding remains well short of where it needs to be.
Our campaign focuses on securing urgent funding for legal aid that supports families navigating separation or crisis. Because legal aid means someone by their side.
The government can help parents who are facing an uphill struggle, get the best outcomes for children in custody disputes, and help domestic abuse survivors keep their children safe.
WHY WE'RE CAMPAIGNING
Because of poor government investment, legal aid solicitors are forced out of work. This means more and more of us are denied access to justice.
Many of us don't qualify for legal aid, even people living below the poverty line - because the means test hasn't been updated since 2009.
