Doing legal business in Ghana

The Republic of Ghana is a constitutional democracy on the West coast of Africa between Sierra Leone and Togo.

Ghana is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. It’s a resource-rich nation with traditional key sectors including agriculture and mining.

It also has an emerging digital economy, with growing state investment into hydroelectric power as well as oil and gas production.

Practising in Ghana

Foreign lawyers can practise in Ghana if they:

  • are qualified in their home jurisdiction
  • have a letter of good-standing from their home bar that satisfies the General Legal Council
  • pass the exam in Ghanaian constitutional law and the customary law of Ghana
