Who wants to be a duty solicitor?
The future of criminal law is bleak, according to most respondents to a new Law Society of England and Wales survey aimed at junior lawyers.
A key long-term protection which ensures consumers of legal services can get compensation for transactions – such as buying a home, wills and child personal injury cases – where a problem may only become apparent many years later must not be ditched by the regulator unless and until an appropriate alternative arrangement is in place.
Lawyers are being arbitrarily arrested, prosecuted and convicted, as well as forcibly disappeared and even killed in countries across the world because of their work upholding the rule of law, the Law Society of England and Wales said to mark the day of the endangered lawyer on 24 January
