Get involved
The Law Society is the professional body for solicitors and a place to connect, grow and thrive.
Our members are at the heart of what we do.
To ensure we are truly the voice of the profession, it’s essential that as many members as possible can get involved with the Law Society.
What is Get Involved?
Get Involved is our new volunteering strategy. It aims to involve more members in our work.
We want every solicitor to have the opportunity to get involved in Law Society activities. By getting involved, you can make a difference in actively promoting, protecting and supporting the profession, the rule of law and access to justice.
Our volunteers support us by sharing their opinions, time and insights, and working together with members with similar interests.
They enable us to carry out our work in support of the profession. For example, by providing advice and expertise on key legal policy issues impacting the profession and the public, and developing guidance for our members navigating changes to the legal profession and practice.
As a volunteer, you will:
- gain new skills and insights
- build your profile
- network with others
- be recognised for your contribution
- make a real difference
Volunteering with the Law Society is changing
Members have told us they want a variety of ways to get involved that fit with the demands of work and life.
We’re creating a Member Advisory Forum. The forum is a virtual pool open to all members who are keen to volunteer their time and expertise.
It will be easy for members to join the forum. You’ll be kept informed of a range of flexible and accessible volunteer opportunities on topics that match your interests. This could include:
- focus groups
- short-term working groups
- surveys
- online panels
- opportunities to join a committee
You’ll be able to sign up to the forum later in the year.
We want to hear from you
This year, we’re celebrating the Law Society’s bicentenary – 200 years of supporting solicitors.
We’ll be out and about at events across England and Wales, showcasing the value of the profession nationally and locally, celebrating our members and discussing what the future looks like.
If you’d like to influence the future of the Law Society, including how we get more members involved, come along to one of our events.
Book your place at a bicentenary event
