Talking about race and ethnicity at work
There are a lot of words, phrases and acronyms we use when talking about race and ethnicity. These change depending on the context of the conversation.
Language is continuously evolving. We need to be willing to refresh our language to make sure we’re using appropriate and respectful terms.
Identity is extremely personal. People have their own preferences on how they describe themselves and how they want to be described.
To remain socially and culturally aware, it is important to listen, educate yourself, learn and politely ask about preferences.
