Carolyn Kirby OBE qualified in 1979 and spent more than 20 years in high street private practice dealing with the full spectrum of non-contentious work, from probate to commercial.
Since 1999, Carolyn has been president of the Mental Health Review Tribunal for Wales.
She spent six years as a non-executive director of West Glamorgan Health Authority.
Carolyn also set up the management structure of a charity supporting cancer sufferers and their families, which she still chairs.
Carolyn was president of the Law Society in 2002. She served on the Board and is a past chair of the Council Membership committee.
