Apply to join the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) is looking for up to 15 solicitor members to join its panels in 2022. Find out how you can apply.

The SDT is an independent statutory tribunal. It protects the interests of the public and maintains confidence in the reputation of the solicitors’ profession.

About the role

Successful applicants will work as part of a panel of three, to hear and adjudicate on a range of complex and challenging cases.

Most cases before the SDT involve adjudicating on alleged disciplinary breaches.

Applicants must be able to commit to at least 15 hearing days each year, plus time to prepare for hearings and to draft judgments.

How to apply

To apply to become a solicitor member, you must be a practising solicitor with at least 10 years’ standing.

The SDT is also looking for up to 10 lay members (people who are not solicitors or barristers).

The closing date for applications is Sunday 14 November 2021.

Interviews will be held in January 2022.
