Help for solicitors

  • We offer a range of helplines which provide practical advice and assistance to solicitors and employees of solicitors, enabling you to provide the best service to your clients.

    Our guidance is based on information you provide us and does not constitute legal advice or a formal ruling.

    Our calls are normally free and confidential. However, any specific information provided which leads us to suspect money laundering activity or serious professional misconduct may require us to make a report to law enforcement agencies.

    We can also direct you to the most appropriate support for any professional or personal problems you may be facing. Find out about other support services.

    All Law Society Helplines are open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

  • Practice Advice Service (PAS)

    Practice Advice Service offers support and advice on all areas of legal practice and procedure, including:

    • > anti-money laundering
    • > conveyancing
    • > private client
    • > litigation
    • > solicitors' costs
    • > professional indemnity insurance

  • Anti-money laundering helpline

    Our dedicated team of solicitors has been advising Law Society members on anti-money laundering for nearly a decade. We can help answer enquiries around:

    • > customer due diligence
    • > source of funds
    • > sanctions and high risks jurisdictions list, and much more

  • Lawyerline

    Solicitors can call for advice on client care and complaints handling, including:

    • > how to resolve complaints directly with clients

    Solicitors or their staff can call 020 7320 5795 if they are experiencing:
