Justice Select Committee inquiry into the small claims limit for personal injury – Law Society response

16 January 2018

The Law Society has responded to the Justice Select Committee inquiry into the small claims limit for personal injury claims.

The Committee called for submissions to be made on the impact of raising the small claims limit and the potential impact of the policy on the role of claims management companies.

The Society’s submission highlights concerns that unrepresented claimants will be burdened with the need to pay significant upfront fees to bring claims if the reforms proceed in the current form.
