How to apply for the Clinical Negligence Accreditation

To achieve the Clinical Negligence Accreditation, you must have been personally conducting clinical negligence for claimants for at least three years prior to submitting an application.

You will need to have completed at least 24 clinical negligence cases over the last three years prior to the application, and had at least six cases taken as far as case management conference and three to meetings of experts. We will also consider applications which do not exactly fulfil the entry criteria but which demonstrate a detailed and up-to-date understanding of clinical negligence litigation. Such practitioners may, to give one example, be in supervisory roles where their caseloads are small in number but consist of high value, complex cases.

Step 1: Preparation and application

As part of the application form, you will need to provide a matter list showing your current caseload. If you are not able to provide a case-management printout or your own caseload spreadsheet, please use our case-load template (Excel 30kb).

Step 2: Assessment and award of accreditation

Your application, including the three case reports, will be reviewed in the first instance by a solicitor from our panel of assessors. If deemed necessary, and in order for your application to be considered fully, you may be invited for interview before two of the scheme's assessors. You will be given more information about the format of this interview and any preparation that you will need to undertake before your date and time are confirmed. Please note, we will not pay expenses in relation to this interview.
